In the past, being good at art usually meant you had to be great at drawing or painting by hand. Some people felt they weren’t “real artists” because they couldn’t draw perfectly. But now, thanks to digital art, that’s starting to change.

Digital art is made using computers, tablets, or phones. There are apps and programs that let people draw, paint, and even make 3D models. These tools make it easier for anyone to learn and improve. You don’t need fancy paints or tons of paper — just your device and some creativity!

One big reason digital art helps people is the “undo” button. If you make a mistake, you can just erase it with one tap. This makes people less afraid to try new things. Many apps also have layers, which let artists work on different parts of a drawing separately. This helps beginners practice without ruining the whole picture.

Another great thing is that there are tutorials everywhere — on YouTube, TikTok, and even inside the apps themselves. You can learn step by step how to draw, color, or shade, even if you’ve never done it before.

Digital art has made art more open and fun. People who once thought, “I can’t draw,” are now making amazing things. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about expressing yourself and learning along the way.

One way that digital art is used is in the example that I put above.  I took a picture of my dog, Phoebe, and used digital art to create a artistic version of her.  But, if you don’t want to do it by hand digital art allows you to take an image and turn it into whatever style of art that you so choose!

So even if you don’t think you’re good at art, give digital art a try! You might surprise yourself with what you can create.
