Three Board Games That You Can Do With Your Family on a Rainy Day
You know those rainy days that make you just want to stay inside and do something with your family, but you just don’t know what to do? Well, I am going to tell you about my three favourite board games that you can do as a family that will make everyone laugh and have lots of fun!”
MONSDRAWSITY
Mondrawsity is a fun drawing game that is for ages 8 and up. This game is played with 3-8 players and takes about 20 minutes to play. One person draw a monster card from the deck and study it for 20 seconds. When the time is up, this player will describe the monster on that card to the other players. These players have two minutes to draw the monster based on that description. The artists are allowed to ask questions to clarify details or get more information. When the drawing time is over, the monster card will be revealed. Everyone will then take turns sharing their drawing with everyone else. Each player will vote on which drawing was the most accurate representation of the monster and whoever has the most votes will get a point. After everyone has had a turn describing a monster, a round is complete. Everyone can choose how many rounds they want to play in a game. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins!
This game requires lots of creativity, makes many laughs, and creates fun memories, especially when you get to see the drawings at the end! In my opinion, monsdrawsity is a great drawing game for families. I know that I have had lots of fun playing it with my family and friends.
JUST ONE
Just One is a guessing game that is for ages 8 and up. This game is played with 3-7 players and takes about 20 minutes to play. One person draw a game card from the deck. Each game card has five words on it and without looking, that person will pick any number between one and five and say their number aloud (selecting the word on the card). This player will pass around the card and the other players will write down a one word clue for the selected word. The players writing the clues will show each other their clues (not the guesser). If there are any duplicates, then those clues cannot be given to the guesser. Once all the clues are reviewed, the remaining clues will be read aloud and the guesser has to decide on what they think is the answer. If they get it right, they get a point, but if they get it wrong, they get no points. Each player will continue to take turns until all the cards in the deck have been used. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins!
This game requires a creative answer and is very funny when the guesser only gets one or two clues and has to guess the word! I remember one time when I was playing and the guesser only had one clue to guess the word dinosaur. The clue was comet and somehow the guesser got it right! I still remember fun moments from the game to this day.
BLANK SLATE
Blank slate is a fun card guessing game that is for ages 8 and up. This game is played with 3-8 players and takes about 30 minutes to play. One person will draw a card from the deck reveal the card to everyone. The card will either have a word then a blank or a blank and then a word (for example: _ _ _book or board_ _ _). Each player will write down a one word answer to put in the blank. When everyone is done writing down their answer, each person will reveal their word. If exactly two people match with the same word, then these players both get 3 points. But, if more than two players match with the same word, all those players get one point. If you get no matches, then you get no points that round. The player who reaches 25 points first wins the game!
This game is lots of fun and requires out of the box thinking and maybe some mind-reading to be able to win! It can be a little frustrating at times when you can not think of a word to put in the blank. But, is very satisfactory when you think of the word and get three points!
In my opinion, Monsdrawsity, Just One, and Blank Slate are great games to play with your family. There is so much variety in how you can answer the cards that you can play them over and over again creating many fun moments. I am positive that your family will enjoy this game as much as I do!
